Celtic transfer news

Although Celtic’s season hasn’t been without drama,

it still has a chance to culminate with the team winning the championship trophy in a match against Rangers, one of the Old Firm’s rivals. Even said,

the title competition has shown exactly where Rodgers and his team need to improve this summer,

particularly as Philippe Clement gets ready for his first full season at Ibrox. It’s still too close for comfort.

Having said that, the gossip trail has already started.

In an attempt to replace Joe Hart, who is retiring,

and bolster their midfield depth this summer,

Celtic has been connected to summer deals for players like Charles Pickel and Coaimhin Kelleher.

Rodgers will probably also get some good news about his deal in the interim.

Reports state that a speedy conclusion to Celtic’s contract negotiations with left-back Greg Taylor is anticipated, allowing the Bhoys to hang onto their player.

That does not imply, however, that they will stop seeking reinforcements in that region.

Football Insider’s Pete O’Rourke reports that Celtic intends to hire a new full-back this summer,

while Alexandro Bernabei’s future remains uncertain.

In the absence of the latter, Rodgers would be left without some much-needed depth at full back,

necessitating the acquisition of a new player from the market.

It’s unclear who that new face is, but regardless of what happens,

they might end up behind Taylor in the social hierarchy.

Having signed a new deal, he should only get better at Celtic.

Depth is key for Celtic dominance

Even though the Scottish Premiership has been much tighter this season,

Celtic could be able to pull away from Rangers again if they add some much-needed depth to Rodgers’ team during the summer transfer window.

Maintaining Taylor is also a big step toward that depth.

The 26-year-old has more than proved to be a leader in the role,

and Rodgers has to provide him some support since he is really skilled:

It’s my responsibility to challenge the team in several areas.

I must admit that Greg has been a great help to me.

“There is obviously a loading problem there, so if we don’t bring in assistance,

we need to be careful. In the worse case, I know I have Liam Scales who can play there.”

There won’t be many happier people than the Cetlic boss come football season if Taylor signs a new contract in Scotland. A crucial player leaving is the last thing any team wants when vying for the championship or defending their title. And under Rodgers,

Taylor is rapidly developing into that at Celtic Park.
