Rangers shouldn’t let James Tavernier leave Ibrox for less than £10million this summer amid growing transfer interest, according to Kenny Miller.

Before the summer transfer window opens, the Light Blues captain has been linked to a move away from Ibrox. According to sources, Steven Gerrard is eager to bring him to Al-Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia [Daily Record, 24 April].

Even Lionel Messi has occasionally stepped over the line, according to BBC commentator Miller,

who yet says the Englishman has made a lot of mistakes this season and thinks it would be “ridiculous” for the Gers to transfer their best player.

In a Sunday, April 28, Daily Record article, he wrote:

“In terms of Tavernier? Everyone is aware of my opinions about the captain. Furthermore,

it’s absurd to discuss Clement’s defense from the right side when it’s the left side that has long needed improvement.

Is Tav prone to errors? Indeed. But is Lionel Messi prone to errors? Indeed.

The world’s top players create them.

I wouldn’t let Tav go unless someone comes in with £10 million for him. Furthermore, I would wonder who would be willing to perform the same task for that fee.

Not only because his objectives have been outstanding.

It’s all about his contributions to this Rangers club and his status as a football player.

He would be the greatest instance of a supporter not appreciating their legacy until after it is gone.

Will James Tavernier leave Rangers amid growing Saudi Arabia transfer speculation?

Although Tavernier hasn’t played at his best thus far this season,

as Miller believes,

the Rangers shouldn’t be actively attempting to sever relations with the Englishman—especially when they have far more important matters to attend to.

The Light Blues and Celtic wouldn’t even be in the running for the title if it weren’t for Tavernier’s performances at right back this season. The skipper of the Gers has frequently taken the stage and performed to help pull Clement’s team out of difficulties.

Not many defenders in the world can influence events from the backline as much as the 32-year-old. Even though some will always refer to him as a “serial loser,” he is making every effort to lead this squad to victory.

Although the Gers should make every effort to keep Tavernier at Ibrox this summer, a £10 million bid might be sufficient to persuade Clement and his hiring team to let him go.
