Mikel Arteta is anticipated to bolster his midfield this summer,

and Arsenal is aiming to sign at least one new midfield player.

Elneny is expected to depart at the conclusion of the season,

Partey is nearing the end of his deal and may be traveling to Saudi Arabia,

and Jorginho’s contract expires in June and he has been heavily connected with a return to Italy.

Since Arteta has long harbored interest in Zubimendi,

the Evening Standard reports that Arsenal is lined up successors for the Spaniard.

The 25-year-old wouldn’t break the bank because he has a £51 million release clause,

but there are increasing worries that Zubimendi may be reluctant to leave his boyhood club,

according to the source.

According to the newspaper, Zubimendi was anticipated to follow his idol Xabi Alonso to Bayern Munich if he were to take over the German powerhouses, should he decide to leave Sociedad.

However, given that Alonso has chosen to stay at Leverkusen, there’s a chance Zubimendi will choose to stay at Sociedad.

Options

The Evening Standard reports that Arsenal is considering options like Douglas Luiz and Bruno Guimaraes as worries about their pursuit of their primary target mount.

Newcastle might need to make a profit on Guimaraes in order to go by FFP and stay out of trouble with Premier League PSR regulations.

Arsenal would need to move quickly if they want to finalize a deal because he has a £100 million release clause that is in effect until mid-June.

Arsenal has had their eye on Luiz for a while, but acquiring the Brazilian could be challenging given Aston Villa’s recent upsurge and potential Champions League qualification.

Given his release, Guimaraes could be the “easiest” transfer to complete if Zubimendi declines the opportunity to sign with Arsenal.
