With Prem prepared to intervene this season, Everton is “at risk of another points deduction.”

With 10 points already deducted in the Premier League, Everton might face even another deduction.

Everton may lose more points this season, according to reports,

after the Premier League previously punished them 10 points for violating financial regulations.

Fears that the Toffees would face punishment once more have arisen as a result of the division’s decision to deal

with any violations of its profit and sustainability guidelines before the end of May.

According to The Times, new laws stipulate that any rule violation will be dealt with at the end of

the current season rather than at a later date when the club’s position in the table is established.

This is relevant as Everton gets ready to file their financial reports for the 2022–2023 season.

There are concerns that Everton may be on the verge of reporting losses of greater than £105 million over

three seasons and incurring another point reduction if the same computation that

was used to find them guilty of violating previous laws is applied.

These new requirements are believed to apply to individual instances, like the one involving Everton,

rather than more extensive inquiries into teams like Manchester City and Chelsea.

This is because Pep Guardiola’s team found out that their trial date for the 115 alleged financial violations is in the autumn of 2024.

Everton were found to have overspent by £7.9m and were docked 10 points but a further punishment

could seriously jeopardise their future in the league.

The Toffees dropped to 19th place and were two points from safety.

However, following Luton’s victory over Crystal Palace on Saturday,

the difference is now five.

If Sean Dyche received a similar sanction from the Premier League before the season ended,

he would probably need a miraculous season to avoid being demoted.
