As Everton prepares to file an appeal against their 10-point deduction for

violating league profit and sustainability regulations,

the most recent information is available.

The Daily Mail claims that the date of City’s panel appearance,

is “initially scheduled for the late autumn of 2024,

” has been agreed upon by the league and the team,

referring to it as “football’s trial of the century.”

The Premier League’s other competitors, including Wolves and Aston Villa,

will be keenly watching the action.

A resolution to the matter might not be reached until the end of the 2024–25 season,

the newspaper continues, despite allegations that witness testimonies are presently

being gathered as part of the probe.

In the event that the City investigation yields negative results,

manager Pep Guardiola’s contract is scheduled to end in the summer of 2025,

casting doubt on his future.

Nonetheless, he emphasised last week that he planned to continue

“even if City were playing in League One”.

Next Wednesday, December 6, is Villa’s Premier League home match against Man City.

On May 4, Wolves will visit the Etihad Stadium.

In addition to the ten points that an independent commission already fined

Everton for breaking the Premier League’s profit and sustainability regulations,

the team may also lose further points this season.

The Toffees’ preparation to file an appeal against their initial punishment

which was imposed on November 17 and resulted in their tumble into the relegation zone,

five points from safety will be closely observed by teams in the Premier League,

including Aston Villa, Wolves, and others.
