Truth revealed: Spurs defender has confessed what transpired between him and Ange Postecoglou
Prior to being loaned to Leeds United last summer, Joe Rodon acknowledged that he did not speak with Ange Postecoglou very often.
Rodon’s season came to an end with a sad loss when Leeds lost to Southampton in the playoff final on Sunday, meaning they will have to play in the Championship again next year.
With just one year left on his contract at Tottenham, it is certain that the center-back’s future does not lie there. Other plans for the player are yet unknown.
According to numerous reports, the 26-year-old, who Spurs values between £12 million and £15 million, is drawing a lot of attention before the summer transfer market opens.
Joe Rodon has not spoken to Postecoglou often
The center defender has acknowledged that when Postecoglou joined Spurs in the summer of last year, he did not have many opportunities to make an impression on him.
“Not really,” Rodon said to The Daily Mail when asked if he had a conversation with the new Tottenham manager. On that side, I didn’t talk to them too often. Being a big boy, I won’t think about things too much. I was aware that playing every week was what would be best for me.
The Wales international disclosed that, when Leeds came knocking last summer, he had already decided to transfer to Elland Road.
“Things developed at the back end of the transfer window last summer and I’d played against the boss’s Norwich team a few times,” the Spurs player remarked in reference to his switch to the Championship outfit. I believed that playing football in the manner he did would always help me and my playing style.
“Leeds is a huge club, of course, and I knew it was a huge opportunity,” the player said. I’ve enjoyed every second of this crazy season, even though it’s arguably been the best one yet.
Despite Leeds’ inability to advance, Rodon seems to have a sincere bond with the team, and I have a sneaking suspicion that he may not want to stay.
But since they won’t be receiving the wealth that would have come with returning to the top division at the first attempt, Farke’s team could not be able to afford him.
