Tottenham has signed him, saying he “can become the GOAT,” but others claim he made the wrong decision.

Lucas Bergvall is expected to join Tottenham Hotspur in the summer after the two clubs signed an agreement two months ago on his transfer from Djurgårdens IF Fotboll.

According to Martin Åslund, a former international for Sweden, the 18-year-old might have developed better had he moved to the Netherlands or Belgium.

Åslund spoke on the Tottenham signing when he was a guest on the Studio Allsvenskan podcast; Nyheter 24 reported on his remarks.

The Sweden international, who primarily plays as an offensive midfielder, has contributed four goals and four assists in eight games for Djurgårdens so far this season.

Though Nyheter, 24, claims the Spurs signing is regarded as one of the best young talents in Sweden, Åslund is of the opinion he would end up in a top team in the Netherlands or Belgium. “I think he will be a very good national team player.

I think he ends up in a top team in the Benelux and there he can become the GOAT [Greatest of all time],” he said. Åslund believes James Maddison operates in a similar capacity at Tottenham, and that’s one of the things that could make it difficult for his compatriot at Tottenham.
