Due to disagreements during contract negotiations, a Manchester City player is set to depart

It is possible that Manchester City will lose a player this summer due to a reported deadlock in contract negotiations.

A star player for Manchester City may be leaving this summer as talks for a new contract have apparently come to a standstill.

City is still fighting on three fronts and could replicate their historic victory from last season,

when they won the triple crown.

In the lead-up to the Reds’ Premier League matchup away to arch rivals Manchester United on Sunday,

the champions overcame a late deficit to defeat Crystal Palace 4-2 at Selhurst Park on Saturday,

bringing them temporarily level with leaders Liverpool.

In the weeks after first-choice goalkeeper Ederson sustained an injury early in March,

Stefan Ortega has been an important member of the Sky Blues squad.

The German goalie’s negotiations over a new contract,

however, have apparently broken down,

and the 31-year-old may potentially be headed for a summer departure.

Ortega moved from Arminia Bielefeld to Manchester City in the summer of 2022,

and in just two seasons, he has made 28 appearances for the team.

The Daily Mail claims that the goalie recently purchased a home in Hamburg,

albeit it is believed that this was an investment.

FourFourTwo believes that it would be preferable for City to retain Ortega.

In the end, a new contract is probably going to be agreed upon,

as the German goalkeeper has proven to be a dependable backup to Ederson during his tenure at the club.
