Philippe Clement offers Abdallah Sima Rangers injury update as AFCON throws up nightmare scenario
After flying out to play for Senegal at the African Cup of Nations, Abdallah Sima sustained an injury. Rangers
manager Philippe Clement has indicated that he has already spoken to Sima.
Senegal was set as one of the early favorites in the continental tournament,
therefore high expectations were placed on Sima and his country.
Sima’s play for Rangers made him stand out as one of the finest in the Scottish Premiership
this season, earning him a dream call-up to the continental tournament. However,
the Rangers star’s hopes of playing on a major stage were dashed when he suffered a thigh injury before he
even got a minute of action for Aliou Cisse’s team. As a result, there were serious concerns inside the Ibrox ranks
about how long he would be sidelined. However, Clement says that Sima has been in contact with him since the
winger provided an update on his condition, and he will be going back to Glasgow as soon as possible to find out the
full nature of his injuries.
