Due to Celtic’s injury crisis this season, Brendan Rodgers has had to cope with the absence of some of the most important players for the team.

In order to strengthen his defence and make midfield adjustments,

the Celtic manager had to bring in temporary replacements for players like Cameron Carter-Vickers and Reo Hatate.

At this point, it appears as though the list of injuries is getting shorter, and Rodgers is eager for one Celtic player to return.

“Liel [Abada] looked really good on the pitch when he trained with the group (on Christmas Day),” stated Rodgers [The Courier print edition, page 52].

“In order to strengthen him, we kept him at home for another session.

“His goals and running have been missed.” We’ll have him at our disposal for the second half of the season.

For Celtic, Liel Abada’s comeback is a welcome boost.

In addition to increasing Celtic’s offensive threat, Abada’s injury comeback will also greatly benefit Kyogo Furuhashi.

Abada was crucial to Celtic’s treble-winning campaign the previous year. His movement off the wing, which helped draw defenders to the area where Kyogo could break through the opposition’s low block, was just as significant as his assists.

Abada made nine assists and scored thirteen goals last season, despite spending the most of his games on the bench. He particularly contributed to Celtic’s victories over Rangers and in the Scottish Cup Final. [Transfermarkt]

Abada was playing well in preseason after inking a new contract in the summer, but he suffered a terrible injury during the September international break.

The 21-year-old winger is back in training, and Celtic supporters will be eager to see him this weekend as Rodgers attempts to win another game against Rangers in his chase for the championship.
