When the Boston Celtics play the Golden State Warriors in San Francisco on Tuesday at 10 p.m. EST, Kristaps Porzingis (left calf strain injury management) will be sidelined. The organisation has since downgraded the veteran big man, who was initially rated as doubtful.

After participating in the first ten games for the Celtics, Porzingis missed a game against the Philadelphia 76ers in the middle of November. He then missed the next four games in a row before playing in four of the last five. So far this season, he has appeared in 19 out of 26 games, including Tuesday.

Throughout the season, he has averaged 18.9 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 52.4% shooting from the field. The Celtics continue to place a high priority on Porzingis’ long-term health, so the move is probably a precautionary one.

Expect a lot of Al Horford, along with some bully-ball from Jayson Tatum and maybe some Neemias Queta, Lamar Stevens, or Oshae Brissett at the five position. Luke Kornet is also out due to a left adductor strain.

Because it’s the second night of a back-to-back, Horford is probably going to sit on Wednesday against the Sacramento Kings, while Porzingis is expected to make a comeback.

The Celtics have triumphed in 14 of 17 games, eight of nine, and five in a row. With six days of road games against the Warriors, Kings, LA Clippers, and Los Angeles Lakers, this will likely be Boston’s hardest test to yet.
