Cowboys’ Jerry Jones Cites Weather As Reason for Bills’ Blowout
Jerry Jones attributes the Dallas Cowboys’ complete lackluster performance against the Buffalo Bills in part on the team’s inclement weather.
It seems that Jerry Jones has more problems with Mother Nature than James Cook.
The owner of the Dallas Cowboys made his first public remarks on the radio in Fort Worth following
“America’s Team’s” 31-10 loss to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday. Jones had harsh words for his team,
blaming them for “untimely mistakes” and not being able to “finish,” but he also had a bad attitude about the Orchard Park forecast.
“The other night, the weather, for example, comes to mind. Jones mentioned the disparity between the Cowboys’
performance at home and away on 105.3 The Fan. “One was wet, one’s dry.” You mention that the
opposing team must play in the rain as well, which is true, but I’m only pointing out a distinction for you.
At home, we enjoy ideal playing conditions. On the journey, we frequently encounter the elements.
In terms of Buffalo weather, Dallas most likely got off lightly despite rain that fell during the game’s
final minutes (and with Buffalo’s lead of multiple possessions well established).
Sunday’s game saw temperatures in the upper 40s, which could be considered tropical in Western New York in December.
As a team, the Bills (8-6) gained 266 yards and three touchdowns on the ground,
demonstrating that the precipitation had little effect on them.
The Cowboys’ disturbing pattern was maintained with their loss against the Bills.
Dallas (10-4) has won seven straight games inside the weather-protected AT&T Stadium,
with a winning margin of more than 24 points. Outside of Arlington, Dallas has suffered four losses in succession
after three lackluster wins (NY Giants, LA Chargers, Carolina).
Jones deserves credit for not absolving his players of responsibility for “not show(ing) up.”
Jones said, “We didn’t finish, period.” “Anything goes: plays, tackles, series. You will lay an egg when that occurs.”
In a result that Jones called “marvelous,” the Philadelphia Eagles lost 20-17 to the Seattle Seahawks in the Monday night finale, but
Dallas still held first place in the NFC East and the associated home semifinal game.
