The Dallas Cowboys are bringing back Mike McCarthy for the 2024 NFL Season.

Mike McCarthy, the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys, is expected to return for the 2024 NFL season, according to recent news.

Dallas Cowboys make baffling decision regarding head coach Mike McCarthy

This is a really puzzling choice. To repeatedly do the same thing and expect a different outcome is the definition of insanity.

That holds true for all facets of life, including athletics. Despite winning 12 games in the regular season for three years in a row and having subpar postseason results, the Cowboys are still with Mike McCarthy in 2024.

Since the mid-1990s, before some of you, including me, were even born, the Cowboys have not progressed past the Divisional Round of the NFL Playoffs.

The jokes about how bad the Cowboys will perform in the postseason begin every year they advance,

and this year was no exception as the skilled Cowboys were destroyed by the upstart Green Bay Packers in Jerry World.

And even after Mike McCarthy’s tenure saw yet another sad postseason exit,

Jerry Jones plans to bring him back in 2024.

McCarthy has an extremely impressive resume as a head coach throughout the regular season.

With the Cowboys, he’s gone 42-25 in the regular season,

one of the finest records in the NFL over

But under McCarthy, the Cowboys are 1-3 in the postseason, meaning they have reached a ceiling when the playoffs start.

And every year they leave the postseason with the same kind of unsatisfactory,

unpleasant performance. Teams in the NFL can’t win Super Bowls unless they take significant risks.

In recent memory, there have been countless instances like this.

With Tyrod Taylor as their main quarterback,

the Buffalo Bills advanced to the postseason in 2017.

They gambled by selecting Josh Allen in the 2018 draft because they correctly saw that Taylor would not win a Super Bowl.

During Alex Smith’s tenure, the Kansas City Chiefs went 50–26, but it soon became apparent that Smith was not nearly up to par. From 2012 to 2014,

the Denver Broncos had a 46-18 record under head coach John Fox.

But a 3-4 postseason record was just not good enough,

and they left Fox after the following season, winning the Super Bowl under head coach Gary Kubiak.

It’s obvious that the Dallas Cowboys’ head coach has reached his limit, therefore it would be absurd to have him return for one more season.

And this is particularly evident when you consider that free agents like Bill Belichick and Mike Vrabel exist. Vrabel and Belichick have both demonstrated, in different ways,

the capacity to win difficult games with their respective clubs and would have been superior to McCarthy in this regard.

I believe that Jerry Jones would have cut ties with McCarthy and gone all out to find a possible head coach upgrade if he had been serious about winning.
