Does Borna Barisic deserve Rangers contract extension and should Celtic sign a new goalkeeper? Monday Jury

Borna Barisic is out of contract in the summer. Would you extend his deal or do Rangers need to bring in another left-back?

KEITH JACKSON: It does feel as if Barisic may have run his race at Rangers. But the Ibrox club can’t afford to move him on without first getting an upgrade in place. If they can neither find nor afford one, then a one

year deal could still be on the table.

ANDY NEWPORT: Both. The Croat has been in decent form this term and merits another deal but his best performances have come when he has proper competition. Ridvan Yilmaz has looked like a real rival at

times but Gers need someone who can push Barisic on a more consistent basis.

SCOTT BURNS: I do think Rangers need to upgrade. The Croatian hasn’t been at the same level as he has in the past. His main strength is going forward but defensively I think Clement needs to find better.

Do Celtic need to make a move in the goalkeeping department this month or can they get by with what they have?

KEITH: There’s no point forking out for a new long term No.1 if he’s going to be sat on a bench for the next six months. Joe Hart will keep the gloves for the rest of the campaign but Brendan Rodgers will almost

certainly have other ideas this summer.

ANDY: Since coming to Glasgow, Joe Hart has been an excellent member of the team, but at 36, he is beginning to show the effects of aging. It’s time to bring in the new goalie and give him time to settle in at Parkhead

if Celtic can locate a worthy replacement. It would be ideal if he could remove Hart before his contract expires in the summer.

SCOTT: With their current trio of goalkeepers, they have a good chance of winning the league. There’s no doubt about it. Long term, Brendan Rodgers will probably wish to upgrade, in my opinion. Relying on his ability

to get that keeper during the January window

Now that the January transfer window is open, who do you believe to be the best acquisition of the year thus far?

KEITH: Given that the market had more misses than hits over the summer, that is a fair question. For Rangers, though, Abdallah Sima has undoubtedly been the best of the lot with 15 goals in 34 games.

ANDY: It was always going to be difficult to replace Allan McGregor’s gloves, but Jack Butland has excelled since joining the Rangers.
