Celtic’s exit confirmed

Yose Ideguchi has left Celtic permanently to join J-League winners Vissel Kobe, the club has revealed. After

joining the Scottish champions in January 2022, the midfield player from Gamba Osaka made just six

appearances. He played for Japanese team Avispa Fukuoka on loan during the previous season, and he received

a J-League Player of the Year nomination. Vissel Kobe, the J-League champion from the previous season,

decided to go as a result, reportedly for a little bit more than the £850,000 Celtic paid for him eighteen months

prior. Ideguchi wrote, “I’ll never forget my memories of Glasgow,” in an Instagram farewell to Celtic. I appreciate

you all very much. You have my support from Japan.

The hardest move crumbles

Benjamin Siegrist, Celtic’s third-choice goalkeeper, appears certain to stay at Parkhead for the foreseeable future

after a loan transfer to Sturm Graz fell through. The 31-year-old Swiss goalkeeper, who has only made two

appearances in the League Cup for Celtic since moving from Dundee United in 2022, was apparently on the

verge of signing with the Austrian team and earning much-needed playing experience. However, those

preparations have been derailed, as the Daily Record reports, as Sturm Graz has chosen to focus on Vitezlav

Jaros of Liverpool instead.

Jordan Jones and Steven Humphrys had “really bad loans” at Hearts and Kilmarnock, according to Wigan

manager Shaun Maloney. Maloney was commenting prior to his team’s FA Cup loss to Manchester United on

Monday night. Maloney was fired by Hibs last year after only three months in command. He told ITV, in

response to questions about his choice of players, “We certainly have skill in the last third. [Martial] Godo is on

loan to us from Fulham. Furthermore, Humphrys and Jones, two players who had terrible loans the previous

season, have returned to the team like brand-new athletes.” Humphrys scored five goals for Hearts in the

previous campaign, including a spectacular effort from within his own half, a goal away at Fiorentina in the

Europa League, and a derby goal against Hibs.
