Dapo Mebude, a former Rangers star, is struggling for his life following a horrific vehicle accident in Belgium.
When Dapo Mebude‘s automobile allegedly struck a tree on the way to a practice match with KV Oostende, he was left in “critical” condition.
Following an automobile accident in Belgium yesterday, January 7, former Rangers star Dapo Mebude was taken to
the hospital.
The 22-year-old was apparently on his way to a pre-season game with KV Oostende when his car struck a tree. It is
believed that other teammates observed the collision, which is why the game was canceled.
Mebude was brought to the hospital with “life-threatening injuries” and had “successful surgery” yesterday
afternoon. KV Oostende sent out a statement to reassure anxious fans, saying: “Dapo Mebude received successful
surgery following his accident.
“We shall learn more about his circumstances tomorrow. We appreciate the excellent treatment provided by the AZ
Brugge medical personnel. We send our best wishes for strength and a speedy recovery to Dapo and his family.”
The attacker left Rangers in the summer of 2021 after a protracted stay with the Glasgow team. Mebude, at barely 17
years old, made his first appearance for the first team under Steven Gerrard’s coaching in May 2019 against
Kilmarnock.
Mebude relocated to Belgium with KV Oostende in the top division last summer, and he has been playing with the
first squad this year.
The Belgian publication GVA claimed that his Mercedes car left the road, struck a tree, and needed to be removed by
the fire department. This information was first published in the Scottish Sun yesterday.
His health was deemed “critical” by Belgian police, who also stated that he was “urgently operated on.”
