FIFA is informed that Celtic star Luis Palma is at the center of a contentious transfer dispute
The intense transfer issue involving Celtic player
Luis Palma and his two previous teams has been
submitted to FIFA.
Since leaving Greek team Aris in August for a
reported sum of approximately £3.5 million, the
Honduran winger has been a vital member of
Brendan Rodgers’ squad.
Vida, the first club he played for in his own
country, asserts that the true transfer value was
£4.1 million.
They are currently awaiting approximately
£50,000 from Aris as a sell-on payment, which
was agreed upon when they sent him to Greece
in January 2022, as well as from the initial
transfer money.
Additionally, the club president disclosed that
until the issue was resolved, he was unable to
pay his current group of players and has taken
the dispute to FIFA to resolve.
“The first transfer for Luis Palma was for
£200,000 and we built in a 35 per sell-on fee,”
Vida President Luis Cruz stated.
However, following his move to Celtic, we never
got paid.
“We are aware that Celtic paid 4.8 million euros,
or £4.1 million, for Luis.
“I told Luis when he was leaving us not to go to
the club in Greece and I had arranged a transfer
to a club in Portugal instead, but his agent
insisted he go to Aris.
“Our finances have suffered greatly as a result of
their failure to pay us the entire sum from the
first transfer as well as the sell-on fee.
They owe us about £50,000 in total between the
original transfer and the sell-on.
“Our only remaining option is to file a complaint
with FIFA.
Although we are pleased that Luis has achieved
great success at Celtic, we require this money in
order for this club to survive.
“We have to take this action in order to maintain
a club.
As a result, I had to lower compensation and
postpone payments.”
