Three players are definitely leaving West Ham, according to David Moyes

By his conduct yesterday, David Moyes has made it quite evident that three players will be leaving West Ham this month.

With their victory over Arsenal, West Ham finished 2023 on a tremendous high and secured their spot in the top six

of the Premier League. However, they face a wake-up call in the beginning of 2024 over their ability to stay there

given their squad’s glaring lack of depth in important spots.

Given his outstanding work at West Ham, David Moyes should receive a new contract this month. Though the Scot

has spent almost £450m in four years, he is also in charge of assembling a Hammers team that consists largely of an

outstanding starting lineup.

Fans are probably aware that West Ham can’t sign players in the January transfer window unless they have shipped

out players. Additionally, Moyes has stated unequivocally that three players are leaving West Ham.

That is, if his play in the dull 0-0 draw with Brighton is any indication. Fans were upset to hear that Vladimir Coufal

was absent from the squad due to illness when the team news was announced.

The best option on paper would be German international Thilo Kehrer, who Moyes has kept off the field this season.

However, Ben Johnson intervened, and Kehrer vanished from view. That seems to support the rumor that the utility

defender is close to finalizing a transfer to Monaco, which we mentioned yesterday. Many supporters anticipated

that Maxwel Cornet would finally have a chance now that he was without Mohammed Kudus or Lucas Paqueta. He is

Kudus’ most natural replacement, at least off the bench, and he can also play on the left.

However, no. Moyes selected Pablo Fornals and Said Benrahma, both of whom had extreme difficulty having any

kind of effect. The game was in dire need of tempo and replacements since West Ham was not putting up any

offensive resistance. However, Moyes made no use of Cornet, substituting Divin Mubama for Benrahma and moving

Fornals to the left in its place.

Cornet stayed on the bench as his future was made very evident, even though it simply made West Ham worse.

Danny Ings was the next. In regards to Ings, Moyes is as good as dead if he does or not.

But it’s obvious that he too is on his way out if a man with his experience is being passed over for a rookie forward

who hasn’t shown that he’s ready to play Premier League football despite West Ham missing important players.

While Ings has also been connected to the Clarets, Wolves, and Southampton, Cornet has been linked to Burnley and

Everton.
