Fresh update emerges as Rangers price for late sale shared – report
In response to Galatasaray’s interest in a transfer, Rangers lower Ridvan Yilmaz’s asking price to £3.5 million.
In an attempt to close a deal this month, Rangers have lowered their asking price for Ridvan Yilmaz to £3.5 million after
Galatasaray’s offers were turned down, according to Yagiz Sabuncuoglu.
Speaking on “The Insider” for Sports Digitale on January 30, the dependable Turkish journalist claims that Rangers first
requested €6 million (£5.1 million) but later reduced their demand to €4.5 million (£3.8 million), possibly as a
condition of accepting a loan or making a direct transfer.
Galatasaray’s offer of €3.5 million (£2.9 million) hasn’t increased as of yet, but according to Sabuncuoglou, the parties
are “getting closer,” and a bid of £3.5 million would finalize the transfer.
Odd
Yilmaz has now become a fixture in the Rangers lineup, making this one of the strangest transfer scenarios that has been
going on this month.
Though he has been playing well lately and appears to have displaced Borna Barisic as the team’s first choice at left back,
the club is set on letting him leave and replacing him with a new left-back.
Given that Barisic’s contract expires in the summer, it would be wiser to let him go now and get the most money possible
while finding a replacement.
However, this has been going on for the entire month, and since Jefte is almost certain to move to Ibrox, it only seems a
matter of time until Galatasaray makes another bid to bring the Turkey international back to his native country and the
Rangers lose a top player for pennies on the dollar.
It’s something to watch in the last few days of the window, for sure, but it’s quite likely that Ridvan has already played
his last game for the team.
In other Rangers news, the Premier League club rejected Ibrox’s bid for the top player.
