According to commentator Leanne Crichton, the 50-year-old’s boasts of “developing the players in the building”

are not credible considering his recent team selections.

And she pointed to last week’s encounter against Buckie Thistle as a squandered

opportunity to give those on the fringes a chance.

Speaking on Go Radio, he said: “I’m not sure if his actions match his statements from today’s news conference.

“You only need to go back as far as Sunday to the side that started against Buckie Thistle,

which I don’t question to a degree because I think there’s a level of professionalism

in treating that fixture with the respect it deserves,

it’s coming off the back of the winter break and you’re looking to  back up to speed,

fans are coming out and spending their money, they want to see the best players.

“I understand it. However, there were many questions raised over the weekend as to

why there were no players (from the start) that ticked the requirements that Brendan Rodgers mentioned,

development players such as Rocco Vata who came off the bench and Daniel Kelly.

“You have individuals like Mikey Johnston remaining on the bench,

and David Turnbull does not appear at all. Alexandro Bernabei does not appear at all.

“Ralston, do not see him. Greg Taylor has played almost every game this season;

he plays the entire game, so you don’t need to change anything up there.

“I don’t see an awful lot of indicators that Brendan Rodgers is really interested in developing players right now,

which is OK. But don’t come out and say one thing and then do something completely different.
