Scotland announce final Euro 2024 friendlies and reveal training base

Scotland’s friendlies against Gibraltar and Finland will serve as a warm-up for the 2024 European Championships.

On Monday, June 3, Steve Clarke’s team will play Gibraltar at the Estadio Algarve in Portugal.

Four days later, they will play their last match at Hampden Park against Finland.

It will be the final game played before the Scots depart for the Euros in Germany this summer.

On June 14, they will play the hosts, followed by matches against Switzerland and Hungary.

In addition, Clarke stated that Scotland’s team base camp for the Euros will be in Garmisch-

Partenkirchen. Scotland will play two friendly against the Netherlands and Northern Ireland in March.

The squad’s base camp, located at the base of Zugspitze, Germany’s highest peak, was visited by Clarke, assistant

John Carver, and performance director Graeme Jones last week. This is where the squad will be based for the

campaign. Scotland will stay at Obermuhle, a 120-room opulent resort that blends contemporary amenities and an

alpine lifestyle with the heritage of being a family-run business for the last 100 years. The delegation was met with

warmth by Elisabeth Koch, the mayor of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, and district administrator Anton Speer, who lives

a short walk from the hotel to the team training area.

“It was important for us to finalize our preparations for Euro 2024 as soon as possible,” Clarke said to

scottishfa.co.uk. “I’m very pleased to have secured our first-choice base camp for the tournament and confirmed our

final friendly matches.” For the length of the competition, Garmisch-Partenkirchen will serve as a cozy base for our

players and backroom crew, and the positive reception we have so far got from the locals portends well for our time

spent camping there this summer.

I’m very pleased to have secured our first-choice base camp for the tournament and confirmed our final friendly

matches.” Garmisch-Partenkirchen will provide our players and backroom staff with a comfortable base for the

duration of the competition, and the enthusiastic response we have received from the locals thus far bodes well for

our summertime camping experience there.

“From the moment we qualified, Garmisch-Partenkirchen was our preferred location for team base camp, and to be

honest, I was more excited that the draw enabled us to have our first pick than I was to play the opening match,”

stated Graeme Jones, performance director for the Scottish FA. Making ensuring the players are as prepared as can

for the Euros and Obermuhle is the top objective.

provides us with the ideal combination of top-notch amenities and a gorgeous, peaceful environment so that players

may concentrate on the challenges that lie ahead. We looked forward to building up to the Euros starting with our

matches against the Netherlands and Northern Ireland in March, and the hotel staff, the mayor, and the district

administration could not have been more cordial during the site visit.
