Jerry Jones’ Warm Message to Family of Fan Who Died at 1st Cowboys Game

Even though NFL football is meant to be a recreational activity, we all take it far too seriously. Every now and then a story emerges that serves as a helpful reminder of the need of perspective.

On January 7, while watching his favourite team, the Dallas Cowboys, play the home-standing Washington Commanders, a man by the name of Timothy Washington fell and passed away outside of FedEx Field. The Washington family is now disclosing that Jones sent them a letter and flowers while he was there with his son, Timothy Washington Jr.”Special thanks to Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys for reaching out to our family and recognising my dad,” Tim Jr. said to Facebook. “He would be so proud.”

Jones described learning of Washington’s passing as “humbling and heartbreaking” in the letter.

“On behalf of the Jones family and our organisation, we offer our deepest sympathies,” wrote Jones. “Timothy’s support humbles me, and he is an inspiration that goes beyond the game of football.”
