The ‘Terrace Talk’ series from Football League World features the views of our FLW Fan Pundits on a variety of topics,

including teams, players, managers, potential signings, breaking news, and more.

Adam Lallana, a midfield player, has been linked to Southampton as a possible signing for the 2024–2025 campaign,

a remarkable reunion.

Russell Martin’s team won the Championship play-off final on Sunday, 1-0 over Leeds United, with a goal from Adam

Armstrong in the first half. The win secured the team’s instant promotion back to the English Premier League. Now,

as they are set to compete in the Premier League once more, their focus has inevitably turned to the transfer market,

and they are already contemplating some eye-catching moves.

Journalist Mike McGrath of the Daily Telegraph reports that Lallana may make a “stunning” comeback to

St Mary’s. The 36-year-old midfielder, who has played in over 100 games in all competitions for the

Seagulls throughout his four years there, is expected to leave the team this summer.

Of course, Lallana is no stranger to Southampton, having joined the team as a junior player. After that,

he played senior football for the team for nearly 250 games from 2006 to 2014, when he and Nigel

Adkins helped the team achieve promotion from the Championship.

After establishing himself in the Premier League and on the international scene for England, the midfield

player was eventually sold to Liverpool in the summer of 2014. He spent six years at Anfield before transferring on a

free transfer to Brighton in 2020.

Reaction emerges to Adam Lallana and Southampton links

After a decade away from the team, it appears Southampton is now trying to get Lallana back on a free transfer,

now that it has been confirmed he will depart The Amex Stadium this summer.

Martin Sanders, a Southampton supporter for FLW, is not thrilled about the agreement that would bring Lallana

back to the team. He points to injuries as a major problem with the seasoned midfield player.

“In talks to sign Lallana?” he remarked.

Indeed, I did witness the proprietor, Dragan Šolak, announcing that they will endeavor to strike a balance between

youth and experience.

That makes me think that they will most likely sign him.

Is this a wise signing, in my opinion? He is prone to injuries, yes. I’m not certain.

“He’s been doing well.” but will he be fit enough to play any real big part for us?

“I think he’s probably looking long-term for a job at the club, and I believe his kid is in the academy.”
