After saying goodbye to Sevilla, Boubakary Soumare is back at Leicester City, where he can get

another opportunity to shine.

Despite the fact that Sevilla had a disappointing season, finishing in 14th place, Soumare has been

one of the team’s best players throughout his loan stint in La Liga. Soumare won’t be going back to Spain,

despite being a fixture in the Sevilla lineup and playing more minutes than all but three members of the team.

It has long been known that, despite the French midfielder‘s impressive performances,

Sevilla would only be able to pay €15 million (£12.8 million) to sign him permanently.

After the season’s last game, Soumare posted on social media to appear to have officially

announced his departure from the team. “It was a pleasure,” he wrote. Sevilla, thank you very much for everything.

Soumare might have been given a new chance given the manager switch at King Power Stadium,

even though he would have been a strong contender for sale next month as City attempts to

balance the books and adhere to Profit and Sustainability laws. The 25-year-old has had difficulty

staying consistent at City, but under Brendan Rodgers, he seemed to be finding his footing in late

2022 before getting hurt. He returned to the team during Dean Smith’s brief tenure.

Although leaving on loan while still under Enzo Maresca’s supervision, the summer managerial

change is probably going to force the new boss to reevaluate the team, which may allow Soumare to return.

There are still two years left on his  contract at City.

Not just him, though, is there are other loanees who might come back.

Victor Kristiansen and Luke Thomas, left backs, may also find favor if a new manager

decides to go back to a more conventional back four. They concluded their campaigns with

Middlesbrough and Bologna, respectively.
