With West Ham’s renewal deadline coming up next week, season ticket increases are continuing to rattle

a few more cages in the Premier League.
Since David Moyes is no longer in charge and Julen Lopetegui has taken over as head coach, I fully

anticipate a strong response, which will no doubt excite the owners of the London Stadium.

Notwithstanding the initial outrage over price increases and adjustments to concessions for children

and veterans, the club still has a waiting list and will take care of any dropouts promptly.

That’s okay because there will be almost 63,000 sell-outs.

Is it, though? The fact that our various fan clubs—Hammer United, Old School Hammers,

the Trust, and the Independent Supporters Committee—all had a voice but achieved nothing

leaves a terrible taste in our mouth regarding the reforms. Fan groups are extremely irritated with

the obstinacy and refusal to adequately consult or even take the issues into consideration.

We’re not by ourselves. The most recent team to infuriate their supporters is Wolves.

Although Brentford, Brighton, Everton, Liverpool, both Manchester clubs, Tottenham, and our

good selves have more than offended their fans with price hikes, Crystal Palace has not raised

their pricing, and Arsenal has revised their position after talking with fans.

The football financial guru Kevin Maguire states: “Business will say it’s too cheap if you sell out at a

specific price. It is another matter entirely whether or not this is the proper course of action in

the national sport. It is unquestionably false if you think that football is the opera of the working class.”

Undoubtedly, our esteemed friends at Hammers United disagree, especially with regards to the

modifications made to concessions, youth, and senior citizens.

We all kindly and voluntarily care for our grandchildren. We provide for their food and

entertainment while letting their parents go to work. Living expenses don’t get any cheaper.

Therefore, we use our excess money to help our grandchildren with their early needs.

That is far preferable to the banks of really wealthy football teams.

The ones that have several billionaires on their boards, who are driven to their parking spaces

(after a few sherbets, of course), and who, following games, vanish inside their mansions?

Try not to tell me you need a few pensioners to give you some additional cash.

However, unless the common fans see that this is greed, nothing will change.

And they’ll be the next if they put up with this.

Currently playing in the Vanarama National League, Ben Strevens’ Daggers placed 15th in the last campaign.

This will be United’s first visit to the venue once known as Victoria Park since the summer,

when the Hammers were held to a 2-2 draw thanks to goals from Ibie and Effiong, both from the penalty spot.

The goals for West Ham that day came from Divin Mubama early in the second half and Maxwel Cornet, who opened the score after just ten minutes.

The match is scheduled one week prior to the team’s trip to the United States, where they will play Crystal Palace and Wolverhampton Wanderers, two Premier League teams who were previously coached by new Hammers head coach Julen Lopetegui.
