CELTIC SET TO DEMAND RECORD FEE FOR STAR AS BRIGHTON SHOW STRONG INTEREST

HITC understands that Celtic could be set to lose one of their key players this summer but only for a club record fee.

As it stands the record sale in Scotland is £25million – which Celtic have received twice; for Kieran

Tierney from Arsenal in 2019 and last summer when Al-Ittihad paid the same amount for Jota.

The player in question who could be on the move this summer is Celtic’s superb midfielder Matt

O’Riley, who had yet another brilliant season for the Scottish Premiership champions.

HITC understands that Celtic may lose a key player this summer, but only for a club record fee.

The current Scottish record sale is £25 million, which Celtic obtained twice: for Kieran Tierney

from Arsenal in 2019 and again last summer when Al-Ittihad paid the same price for Jota.

The man in question, who could be on the move this summer, is Celtic’s terrific midfielder Matt

O’Riley, who had another outstanding season with the Scottish Premiership champions.

In January, HITC claimed that Atletico Madrid was one of the clubs vying for the Danish

midfielder, and Diego Simeone’s side is said to be still interested.

Celtic would prefer to keep O’Riley, but they recognize that there is tremendous interest in him.

HITC knows that a number of English clubs have inquired about his availability this summer. AS

Monaco of France and VfB Stuttgart of the Bundesliga are also said to be interested. This has been

O’Riley’s breakout season for the Scottish club, and losing the Danish midfielder would be a major

blow to manager Brendan Rodgers, who has won the league and cup double this season.

As previously said, the Danish midfielder is attracting interest from not only some of Europe’s best,

but also Premier League clubs.

Three clubs in particular are thought to be showing the most interest: Brighton & Hove Albion,

West Ham United, and Thomas Frank’s Brentford.

Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United and Unai Emery’s Aston Villa have already scouted the midfielder,

but both sides have different priorities moving into the summer transfer season. The Scottish club

would receive a hefty price for O’Riley’s sale, which they would then use to invest in suitable

successors for the 23-year-old.
