Transfer rumors involving Everton: Retaining important players may prove difficult for Everton

after the June 30 deadline.

Football finance expert Kieran Maguire says that Everton is one team that might have to sell before June 30.

For Premier League clubs, the end of June marks a significant day: clubs have until then to turn in

their 2023–24 season accounts, and Premier League auditors will examine the three years leading up to that point.

They can lose up to £105 million over three years, or £35 million every season, according to

PSR regulations. Everton might have to sell this summer to avoid losing more than that amount,

as they were previously judged to have lost more and received two separate point deductions.

After suffering significant losses of £45 million and £89 million in the next two seasons, financial

expert Maguire was cited as saying, “Everton aren’t in a great position.” He continued,

“They have to box very cleverly, they still have this issue in terms of Goodison Park not generating

enough money for a club the size and stature of Everton.” Less than £1 million is made from ticket

sales each game. It shouldn’t surprise you if they sell.

Unfortunately, important players like Jordan Pickford, Amadou Onana, and Jarrad Branthwaite are

among the ones looking to leave the team. In order to deter teams like Manchester United,

the latter has an £80 million price tag attached to him; nevertheless, as Maguire notes,

they will need to find a way to raise the money. Even though Newcastle United will be eager to

hang on to their important players, Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been mentioned as a possible

target in recent days. As things stand right now, it will be impossible to reject any offers for these individuals.

All three would be challenging to replace and have had exceptionally successful seasons:

Branthwaite, who was called up to the England squad, is among the top U23 defenders in Europe,

Onana had the best defensive duel percentage in Europe, and Pickford was Everton’s Player of the Season.

“Kevin [Thelwell] has spoken about the fact we are likely going to have to sell, we don’t know,

we don’t know what or when exactly because obviously we are not open to that,” stated

Sean Dyche in his final press conference of the season. However, given the financial realities of the club,

we will have to be accommodating if people come to support our players, as we believe they will for

some of them. The June 30 deadline may also pave the way for changes this summer,

whether or not Everton supporters are in favor of them.
