In the lead-up to Saturday’s cup final, Brendan Rodgers has revealed what his main message

to his Celtic players will be.

In their sixth Old Firm derby of the season, the Hoops take on Rangers; they have won all five

meetings between the teams. With the Scottish Cup trophy as the prize at the end, there’s

more on the line than in most previous matches, and as history has shown, people can lose it under pressure.

It wouldn’t be the first time if there were send-offs and flashpoints at Hampden on Saturday.

However, the Northern Irishman clarified that his goal is always to quiet his players before big

games and instill in them the habit of not to play with too much emotions.

The Hoops manager was questioned this morning on talksSPORT about if he will need to

calm his players down. “Yeah, definitely,” was his response. That, in my opinion, is the

main takeaway from the lead-up to these games. Because the games are so intense and with so

much on the line, our discipline has been excellent. But in the end, you have to play football,

and we always do that.

We make an effort to maintain our composure as we build up, concentrate on our strategy for

winning the game, and avoid getting overly excited. You want to experiment with emotion,

yet in order to perform properly, control is always required.”

Rodgers is excited about the Old Firm match, anticipating that both sets of fans will be allowed inside.

He returned to the club during their stalemate with Rangers over the visiting supporters,

and he has been missing it.

“I think we’re looking forward to that because, as you know, there haven’t been any away

fans at the games for the last few years,” he continued. Thus, having that equal

portion makes for a fantastic conclusion.”

Ultimately, he acknowledges that, even if it’s critical to start strong, failing to reach the

first goal is not fatal.

Yes, idealistically,” Rodgers said in response to that idea. “It goes without saying that we have won

these games after scoring the opening goals. However, it’s not the final word. It is possible to succeed

even if your first goal is not achieved, in my opinion. However, I believe it’s always crucial to start out well if at all possible.”

Brendan Rodgers has confidently asserted that Celtic would rank within the top six of the English Premier

When the topic of how Scottish powerhouses Celtic and Rangers would do in matches against

Premier League opponents came up again, Rodgers was asked what he felt.

In a talkSPORT interview, Rodgers emphasized the financial difficulties Celtic has in the

Scottish Premiership and how joining the Premier League may drastically change the club’s financial situation.

When it came to Celtic’s prize money for winning the Scottish league, Alan Brazil questioned

Rodgers about it in relation to newly promoted Premier League teams.

The league was important to us this year because it’s the best opportunity the club has to make a big profit,

especially with the new Champions League format providing more financial benefits than before.

Rangers and Celtic are two of the biggest teams in the world, but because of my connection to them,

I can only speak for Celtic. If Celtic were a Premier League team, they very definitely would be in the top six.

It’s very amazing. Anywhere in the world you travel, there are Celtic supporters.

The club is such a massive organization because of its history and fan base.

With the team selling out in the SPFL already, co-host Gabby jokingly remarked that Celtic could even need to think about expanding their stadium to accommodate a larger fan base.

There will always be discussions about joining the Premier League, but it’s unlikely that it will ever happen.
