Former Celtic boss Neil Lennon completes return to management, delivers nod to the Hoops

Neil Lennon, the former manager of Celtic, has returned to the club after a two-year hiatus from the dugout after leaving Omonia Nicosia.
The Lurgan native became the third-most successful manager in the history of the club

after winning 10 trophies during his two stints in command at Parkhead before leaving in 2021.
After returning from Cyprus, Lennon has relished some time off from the demands of coaching.

He has established himself as a mainstay on the punditry circuit,

contributing his wealth of Celtic knowledge to numerous platforms.

He was supposedly being considered for the Republic of Ireland position earlier this year,

but FAI Director of Football Marc Canham told the 52-year-old that he was no longer being considered for the position.

Currently, he is returning to management with a new project that will no doubt catch the attention of many Celtic fans.

Neil Lennon appointed Rapid Bucharest manager

Lennon will stay in the Romanian city until at least 2026, according to Rapid Bucharest,

who publicly confirmed that he has agreed to sign a two-year contract with the team [Rapid Bucharest FC].

Following his appointment as the Railwaymen‘s manager,

he made the following statement on the club’s official website: “I initially spoke with Mr. Sucu and Daniel Sandu, having lengthy conversations with them.

The proposal they showed to me pleased me greatly when we met again a few weeks ago.

“I was very impressed by Mr. Sucu; he is a very strong, intelligent, and principled man. That impressed me.

Then, speaking with Daniel, it was an easy decision for me. I am very happy to be here; I know that Rapid is a very important name in Romanian football history.

It’s an opportunity for me.” Lennon then acknowledged his former team, Celtic, saying,

“I hope to create a strong connection between myself and the supporters; I know they are very passionate about the club. It is my responsibility.

They resemble Celtics supporters. I want us to perform; that’s my primary objective.

I’m excited to see the fans soon, and I’ll do everything in my power to play with Rapid.

Neil Lennon prepares for new Rapid Bucharest adventure

We reported last week that Lennon was close to finalizing an agreement to join the Romanian company,

which would bring in an estimated £1.5 million for the two years he will hold the position following talks.
Though it was also thought that legendary Celtic player Martin O’Neill was in the running,

the three-time Superliga winners will now be led by a different former Hoops boss.
After a protracted wait, Lennon gets another opportunity to excel in management.

I wish him well on his new journey and hope he finds great success in his new position.
