Proud Manager rejects West Ham because he sees it as ‘set back – Hammers stopped

Edin Terzic, the manager of Borussia Dortmund, reportedly turned down a transfer to West Ham

United because he saw it as a step down.

Sport BILD claims that Terzic was contacted by West Ham lately regarding a possible comeback to the team,

but that communication was promptly turned down.

After it was announced that David Moyes would leave this summer, the Hammers began looking for his replacement,

and they have spent the better part of a month speaking with managers around Europe.

Even though Terzic can now be added to the list of candidates that have been associated with the role,

Julen Lopetegui still seems to be the man of choice.

Sport BILD claims that West Ham got in touch with the Borussia Dortmund boss to inquire about the

possibility of his returning to the team, where he previously served as Slaven Bilic’s assistant manager.

Terzic didn’t want any distractions for himself or his team, who had advanced to the Champions League final,

so he quickly blocked the request.

In addition, he thought that, given Dortmund’s current situation, moving to West Ham would be a “step backwards”

and that it would not be the best decision for him.

Terzic has been connected to the Premier League on many occasions this week; according to a report on Monday,

Tottenham and Newcastle have also been considering a move for him in addition to West Ham.

That seemed like a little PR at the time, maybe even from Terzic’s staff,

and there’s a similar vibe to this article about the Hammers and their rejection. In either case,

West Ham will have to search elsewhere since he isn’t going back.
