Recruiting a player to fill the shoes of a man who is so seasoned, so dependable,

and so often outstanding is probably going to be one of Celtic‘s largest, if not their biggest, summertime concerns.

At 37 years old, Joe Hart might not be a spring chicken these days.

However, if the incredible save he made against Hearts a few of weeks ago with the score still 1-0 is any indication,

the former England international is retiring—perhaps not at the height of his abilities,

but definitely as a player still capable of making spectacular, game-changing saves.

Joe Hart retirement means Celtic need a goalkeeper

Celtic are looking at a variety of alternatives, both established and relatively unknown, young and old.
Coaimhin Kelleher, Liverpool’s dependable number two, is the primary target, as far as HITC is aware.

Nonetheless, Kelleher was recently valued by the Premier League’s biggest clubs at over £15 million.

a sum that would force Celtic to shatter the club record that has been in place since Odsonne Edouard permanently left Paris Saint-Germain in 2018.

The young Aston Villa player Viljami Sinisalo would be much more cost-effective, but he would also carry a risk.

Patrick Pentz of Brondby and Etienne Vaessen of RKC Waalwijk have also been connected to Celtic.

None of them would have the same depth of experience or familiarity with the British game

that Manchester City legend Hart had when he arrived at Parkhead.

Meanwhile, Ugurcan Cakir‘s name is another one to watch.

HITC has been informed that this season, Celtic has been observing the Turkey international.

In that Venn diagram of goalkeepers, Cakir may be positioned closer to the center than others.

Trabzonspor open to Ugurcan Cakir exit

Cakir, who is 28, has spent years performing at the highest level.

He led Trabzonspor to their first Super Lig championship in many years in 2022, so he is also familiar with what it takes to be successful at home.

His alleged price tag of almost £8 million means that this is definitely not small change.

However, it also won’t break the budget for Celtic,

who should have extra cash after a few high-profile exits in the last transfer window.
In an interview with A Spor this week, Ertogrul Dogan, the president of Trabzonspor,

raised Celtic’s expectations for a transaction including Cakir.

When a good offer comes along, the Black Sea squad will not obstruct the Turkey international,

who “has a dream” of becoming a household name outside of his native country.

Ugurcan is our sibling.” He is an excellent player for Trabzonspor.

A true Trabzonspor player,” Dogan says, adding that his team is apparently closing in on Borna Barisic and John Lundstram of the Rangers.

His team’s interests are the only thing on his mind, no matter what.

The player has the desire to play in Europe, of course.

We agreed to let him depart in the event that a significant offer materialized.

It is accurate to say that certain clubs have gotten in touch with us, even though there isn’t an official offer just yet.

We applaud Ugurcan for having such a dream in mind. It would be preferable to speak after receiving a formal offer.

Ali Kemal Denizci, a legend of Trabzonspor who believed his former employers should demand a sum in the range of £40 million,

once called Cakir a “world-class” shot-stopper.
