If Rangers are to close the gap on Celtic in the Scottish Premiership title race, Michael Stewart thinks they

have a difficult task ahead of them during the summer transfer window.

Following their 5-0 victory over Kilmarnock on the road on Wednesday, May 15, Brendan

Rogers’ team had defeated the Gers to win the title.

Stewart discussed the problem facing Phillipe Clement on BBC Sportsound on May 15, at 9:33 p.m.,

as the transfer window approaches.

“Regardless of what Celtic do, Rangers have a big summer ahead of them,” he stated.

Rangers need to try to make major repairs.

“The unsatisfactory hiring of Michael Beale throughout the summer. Rangers’ duty will be

made even more crucial if Celtic successfully fortify the areas where they will need to.

Rangers have very little room for mistake if they hope to get closer to Celtic.

Rangers will need to make significant progress in their recruitment this summer in order to position themselves for success.

What do Rangers need in the summer transfer window?

This summer, there will be some departures from Ibrox as the defense is expected to be severely

damaged by departing players and contract expirations.

Ben Davies and Connor Goldson are rumored to be leaving in the window, and Leon

Balogun’s contract expires this summer.

According to Gunebakis, Borna Barisic is certain to go, with a pre-contract transfer to

Trabzonspor alongside John Lundstram becoming plausible.

James Tavernier, the captain of the team, is also rumored to be moving to Al Ettifaq in

Saudi Arabia to rejoin Steven Gerrard [Daily Record].

It will be obvious that Clement has to recruit a few players to his back line in order to

strengthen it in light of all these defensive losses.

Many players of first-team caliber will be required, which is difficult at Ibrox given the limited resources available.

The Gers aren’t far behind Celtic, and things might be different if Parkhead hadn’t seen an Old Firm defeat.

With a few new additions to bolster the roster, Rangers might be in a better position this time around next season.

In other Rangers news, a recent event has cast doubt on the Gers’ Jefte deal.
