Breaking: Former Celtic boss Neil Lennon set for management return

After spending two years away from the dugout, former Celtic manager Neil Lennon is ready to return to football management.

The 52-year-old won the Cypriot Cup during his exciting tenure as manager at Omonia Nicosia, where he last held the position before being fired in 2022.

Strong rumors from earlier in the year suggested that Lennon was a candidate for the Republic of Ireland post. However, FAI Director of Football Marc Canham phoned Lennon to let him know he was out of the running.

Even though his second stint at Celtic ended bitterly, his managerial achievements cannot be underestimated. With 10 titles in all during his tenure at Parkhead, he ranks as the third most successful manager in the club’s storied history.

He is now expected to make a return, which might be revealed as soon as this weekend, since an agreement between the two parties is about to be reached.

Neil Lennon set to become Rapid Bucharest’s new manager

The Scottish Sun claims that Lennon is about to take over as manager of Romanian team Rapid Bucharest, where he will serve a two-year contract worth roughly £1.5 million.

After their derby match against rivals Steaua Bucharest on Sunday night, he is anticipated to be formally presented following discussions that have taken place over the past week.

After taking a break from the game during which he established himself as a well-known figure in the punditry world, Lennon is currently in the “advanced stage” of talks to take over for interim manager Bogdan Lobont.

Rapid Bucharest was also rumored to be interested in legendary former Celtic leader Martin O’Neill; nonetheless, Lennon is the front-runner to succeed the three-time Romanian top-flight winners.

The Lurgan native will hopefully have success at the Rapid-Giulesti Stadium as his managing career progresses in a totally new setting.

Even if his time at Celtic ended suddenly, he will definitely be useful to the Railwaymen when his new position is confirmed.
