Celtic assistant John Kennedy was struck during Sunday’s thrilling draw; Police Scotland are investigating; no arrests were made at Ibrox. Celtic have raised’serious concerns’ with Rangers following assistant manager John Kennedy being assaulted with an object during Sunday’s Old Firm stalemate at Ibrox.

Kennedy was spotted on Sky Sports reacting when coins and other stuff landed in the dugout area during the Scottish Premiership’s dramatic 3-3 result.

Celtic said in a statement: “It is completely reprehensible that our employees have once again been attacked in this manner.

“We will be raising our serious concerns with Rangers and we understand that the matter is currently being investigated by Police Scotland.”

Police were spotted chatting to officials in the away dugout after Celtic scored in the first half, and in a statement said: “We are aware of an object being thrown at Ibrox Stadium, Glasgow during the Rangers v Celtic match on Sunday, 7 April, 2024. No arrests were made.”

“One man was struck but did not require treatment and enquiries are ongoing.”

It is the latest in a string of recent events in which objects have been thrown during Old Firm.

In April 2022, a Celtic physio was hit on the head by a bottle at Ibrox, requiring four stitches and leaving a scar.

Rangers claimed the following month that their supporters had been left “unprotected” and that missiles hurled at Celtic Park had hurt elderly and crippled spectators.

Celtic reported that its supporters and stewards were also struck by debris, including seats pulled from the stands.
