After a disastrous six months at Rangers, Jose Cifuentes is hoping to start fresh in Brazil by making his much anticipated debut for new club Cruzeiro.
Last summer, the Ecuadorian midfielder moved from LAFC to Ibrox, much to the delight of the supporters.
After making 20 appearances in all competitions, the former MLS star was unable to leave a lasting impact and was replaced in mid-October by
Philippe Clement, who was viewed as a bit player.
Cifuentes is aiming to restart his career by going on loan to the Cruzeiro squad,
owned by the legendary Brazilian player Ronaldo.
The 24-year-old may decide to make the move permanent at the conclusion of the 12-month contract,
albeit a precise transfer cost has not been disclosed.
Despite having completed his move to Brazil in early February, Cifuentes and fellow newcomer Lucas Villalba have
had to wait for their debuts because of formalities.
This in turn sparked conjecture as to whether the transfer would fail completely.
On the other hand, things seem to be improving in that aspect, and it has now been
Cifuentes is scheduled to make his debut this Sunday against Pouso Alegre, as reported by The Herald.
Queen’s Park, of the Scottish Championship, has announced the signing of former Celtic,
Striker Cillian Sheridan of Kilmarnock and Motherwell has a contract that expires at the end of the current campaign.
During his career, the three-time Republic of Ireland international was a nomad.
The 35-year-old, who has represented several countries, such as Poland,
Australia, Scotland, Israel, Cyprus, and Bulgaria
spent the first half of the season playing for Inverness C.T. under Duncan Ferguson, but made just nine
appearances at the Championship level without scoring.
