Ahead of their game against the Clippers tomorrow, the Atlanta Hawks release their injury report.
Tomorrow night, the Hawks will play their final game of a lengthy homestand against the Los Angeles Clippers,
and they will be aiming for their fifth straight victory. Atlanta’s record now stands at 22-27 after defeating the
GoldenState Warriors last night. The Clippers will be playing on the second night of a back-to-back tonight as they
take on the Miami Heat in Miami. The Hawks have revealed their injury list before of the game,
and some players stand out.
De’Andre Hunter (right knee injury management) and Saddiq Bey (left ankle sprain) are doubtful for tomorrow’s
game, while Clint Capela (left adductor strain) will be sidelined. Bey missed yesterday night’s game, but Hunter
participated in it.
In the Hawks’ victory over the Golden State Warriors on Saturday night, Capela played one of his greatest games
of the year. However, the Hawks announced an update on their center’s injury this afternoon, and it appears that
he may miss some time.
The official injury update said the following:
“Center Clint Capela had an MRI at the Emory Sports Medicine Complex early today after feeling discomfort
late in the Golden State game last night. His condition has been identified as a left adductor strain.
In seven to ten days, he will have another evaluation, and his status will be updated as needed.”
Clearly, this is significant to the Hawks. As demonstrated by his double-double from last night,
Capela is still a capable rebounder and defender even though they have one of the finest backup
centers in the NBA. You can anticipate that Okongwu will play a lot of minutes given his absence
for at least seven to ten days. Bruno Fernando will most likely play some minutes as the Hawks’
backup center. For the first time, Atlanta’s key eight players were all fully healthy this week. Then,
De’Andre Hunter missed the Hawks’ back-to-back game, and Saddiq Bey hurt his ankle in that same
game, forcing him to miss last night’s contest. This season, the Hawks have not had luck with injuries,
and thus Golden State’s lack of size was exploited by both of Atlanta’s centers last night,
who put on incredible displays.
Okongwu ended with 22 points and 16 rebounds, while Capela finished with 17 points and 15 rebounds.
At some stages during the game, Atlanta just outplayed Golden State, holding a 72-56 advantage
in points in the paint. Both of Atlanta’s elite centers performed admirably last night.
