Rangers renew interest in Stoke City man four years after initial transfer talks
Scottish powerhouse Rangers are monitoring Tyrese Campbell’s position at Stoke City.
Campbell was the focus of transfer rumors in January after Stoke City turned down a Serie
A team’s deadline-day offer for the forward, Hellas Verona.
Campbell’s contract is set to expire in the summer, meaning he could walk away from the Potters as a free agent at the end of the
current campaign and he could even talk to clubs outside of England about a pre-contract deal.
Tyrese Campbell transfer latest
Four years ago, Campbell’s father, former Arsenal and Everton striker Kevin, had reported that Rangers were interested in recruiting
him. However, the deal fell through, and Campbell chose to remain in Staffordshire.
Injury has kept Campbell from playing a more significant role for the Championship team thus far this season. However, the forward
was a vital member of the team last season, playing 41 league games and contributing nine goals and five assists as the Potters finished
16th in the standings. The Ibrox outfit is now thinking about rekindling their interest
in the Stoke player ahead of his imminent free agency in the summer.
Whether Campbell signs a new contract with the team is still up in the air because the Gers may now provide him with a better offer.
Given his versatility, Campbell might be very valuable to the Scottish team, who will probably aim to expand their offensive lineup in the summer.
Rangers, who are presently in the UEFA Europa League knockout stages, can potentially provide competition in Europe.
In addition to finishing second in the league, Philippe Clement’s team hopes to challenge Celtic for significant domestic titles.
