The 28-year-old Scotland international was the talk of the Rangers team, but for whatever reason, a trade never happened.

Lawrence Shankland was discussing his transfer predicament after scoring more goals for the Edinburgh club over the weekend,

despite being offered a new contract by Hearts.

With a double in the 3-2 victory over Dundee at Dens Park, the hitman increased his season total to 21 goals, demonstrating his worth to the Jambos once more.

When asked about all the speculation that occurred over the winter window, Lawrence Shankland maintains that he remained focused on the task at hand, and it is showing results.

“Obviously it brings a pressure,” said Shankland. “There’s a lot of noise and talk around the place.

To be really honest, I was probably tired of hearing my own name after all!

“My family was the same; they kept asking, but I didn’t answer since I was concentrating entirely on playing football.

“I think there was a lot of talk even in December before it happened, but I stayed focused on my football.”

“I was still playing well, contributing goals and carrying out my duties for Hearts.” That, I believe, is the most crucial thing I could concentrate on and do.

In light of the Rangers connections, Lawrence Shankland was also questioned on the stated asking amount from Hearts for his services.

According to reports, the Gers might have to spend up to £4 million in January to win the young bluenose from Tynecastle.

Shankland maintains that he is content to be performing in Edinburgh, claiming that the situation is beyond his control.

“People probably don’t think of that part of it because it’s outside of my control,” Shankland said.

It doesn’t go as far as me unless someone comes to Herts and says, ‘This is what we’re giving you, and you’re accepting it.'”

To be honest, that probably made it easier for me to simply go play football and be focused. No, nothing happened since I’m involved

in these matters fairly far down the line.

“As I previously stated, I’m delighted to be here now, and I never once indicated that I was happy

to be here previously and that I’m happy to be here now.

“I never once said I’m desperate to go out the door. I’m enjoying my football, I’m scoring goals, and leading the team out here isn’t too bad either!”
