Patrick Mahomes Sr. Arrested by Dallas-Area Police For Third DWI Ahead of Chiefs’ Super Bowl
Before the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl game, Patrick Mahomes Sr. was arrested by Dallas-area police for a third DUI.
FRISCO: There is some unsettling news for the Mahomes family as Super Bowl Week, which stars
Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs, is about to begin. The quarterback’s father has been
detained once more for reportedly driving while intoxicated.
The newest arrest of Mahomes, 53, took place in Tyler, Texas, some 100 miles east of Dallas,
according to Smith County jail records. The arrest happened on Saturday.
According to reports, this is Mahomes Sr.’s third arrest of this kind in recent memory.
He has a regrettable past of legal run-ins with the authorities due to intoxication-related offenses.
Mahomes Sr. is being jailed at the Smith County Jail with a $10,000 bond.
Because of his time spent with the Texas Rangers, the elder Mahomes was a Major League pitcher
with ties to the region. Son Patrick was selected by the Chiefs in the first round after attending Texas Tech
as a collegiate football player and growing up in Whitehouse, Texas. A two-time NFL MVP, the younger
Mahomes will take the field for the first time in his sixth Super Bowl
in Las Vegas against the 49ers. Mahomes Sr. had intended to attend the game, according to a recent CNN article.
Among other things, Mahomes Sr. has dealt with accusations of driving while intoxicated in public,
operating a vehicle without a license, and operating a vehicle with an open alcohol container over the years.
