LIVINGSTON, the new guy David Carson, who thought Connor Goldson had fouled him during the build-up, voiced his amazement

when Rangers’ opening goal at Ibrox on Saturday was not disallowed after a VAR assessment.

The struggling West Lothian team held their hosts scoreless for the first forty minutes of this weekend’s decisive Premiership

showdown in Govan.

However, after Goldson had headed a Borna Barisic corner to him, Fabio Silva broke the tie, and Philippe Clement’s team went on to defeat David Martindale’s squad 3-0.

After the Silva goal, the Livingston players objected to referee John Beaton because they thought the Rangers center half had taken

midfielder Carson out of the game soon before.

After watching video at Clydesdale House, though, VAR official Matthew MacDermid declared the goal to be valid.

The appeal perplexed English midfielder Carson, who transferred from Inverness Caledonian Thistle to the Tony Macaroni Arena in the January transfer window.

“I think it was the wrong decision,” he declared. “It appears to be a foul.

“I’ve been beaten up. I have dead leg, stud marks all over my body, and a thigh. It’s obvious that I went to assault the ball, put my head on it, and was then pulled out.

“His foot is up. He just seems to miss my head, if anything. You see, I touched the ball, then I touched myself afterwards. It seems like

a foul to me. It surprises me that VAR didn’t forbid it. However, I am unable to decide. They’ve succeeded.
