The next striker that Rangers have signed is not Lawrence Shankland.

Although Nils Koppen was unable to sign a center forward during the January transfer window,

Kenny Miller thinks he may already have another attacker lined up to join Rangers.

The BBC analyst stated in a piece published on the Daily Record website on Sunday,

February 4, that the Gers are now more deliberate in their hiring process after Colombian

winger Oscar Cortes was considered for a “long time” by the team prior to his loan move from Lens, France, to Ibrox.

He continued by saying he never thought the Light Blues would sign Lawrence Shankland due to

the amount of money Hearts were requesting after a change in transfer regulations under

the new director of football recruitment Koppen and manager Philippe Clement.

Rangers want to spend their money well.

Without a question, Rangers required a shift in their hiring strategy after Michael Beale’s

squad revamp at Ibrox last summer.

The old manager of the Gers was essentially allowed to bring in whoever he wanted,

with little regard for how their hiring would help the team both now and down the road.

It seems that the current approach is to bring in younger players who can contribute to the first

team now and who will only become better in the future, which might result in the club paying large transfer fees for them.

Even if Shankland would have given the offensive alternatives more possibilities right now,

the 28-year-old could not agree with this new style of thinking.

It wouldn’t be shocking if the Light Blues are already eyeing a forward for the summer,

when Clement will have more money to spend and may sign a new player.

In other Rangers news, a reporter has suggested that the Gers should make a play for a

former forward in the Premier League who has ripped up his contract.
