Ronaldo and Rangers cross paths again as he makes transfer pledge 27 years after that signing offer

The Ecuadorian midfielder looks certain to leave Ibrox after being an expensive flop since his move this summer from Los Angeles FC.

Brazil icon Ronaldo has offered to sign Rangers flop Jose Cifuentes next week as a gift to fans before the opening of the legendary Rio Carnival.

The Ecuadorian midfielder appears set to leave Ibrox after proving to be a costly flop since joining from Los Angeles FC in the MLS this summer.

Cifuentes is coveted by the Brazilian team Cruzeiro, which is owned by one of the world’s greatest players, Ronaldo.A deal would bring the former Barcelona,

Real Madrid, and Inter Milan ace back into contact with the Ibrox men, 27 years after that stunning signing offer.

In the summer of 1997, Ronaldo stated, “Yes, I did receive an offer from Glasgow Rangers.

” We looked into it and decided that the best offer at the time was from Inter Milan, therefore I apologized.”

Ronaldo, who has twice won the Ballon d’Or, owns Cruzeiro after investing £60 million in the Belo Horizonte club, his first team in Brazil.

However, he has come under fire from the club’s fans for failing to make any transfer investments since becoming ownership.

However, he has stated that they would have two new players before next Friday,

when Rio de Janeiro’s famous carnival begins and parties take place around the country.

He assured the crowd: “There will be two new players at the club next week in time for the Carnival!

“According to rumors in South America, they will be Cifuentes

, who is likely on a season-long loan with the option to buy,

and defender Lucas Villalba, who is out of contract with Argentino Juniors.

Cifuentes declined a move to Turkey with Rizespor.

Brazil’s transfer window is open till next month.
