Rangers could move for “great” player to finally solve Clement’s issue

Rangers had a busy January transfer window, hoping to reverse the tide on Celtic in the fight for the Scottish Premiership title.

They welcomed a number of reinforcements for Philippe Clement’s team. Even after the deadline, they might add another new face.

The Gers were late to sign Oscar Cortes, but he joined Fabio Silva and Mohamed Diomande who had already arrived.

After the winger signed a loan agreement until the end of the season, Clement underlined his joy with the signing,

telling BBC Sport: “I am absolutely thrilled to have Oscar to our group.

“Our discussions have been very constructive, and I feel he will be a valuable addition to the group as we compete on three fronts for the rest of the season.

Oscar is very enthusiastic about our team’s goals and ambitions, and his skill set will bring valuable competition to our forward line.

“One issue that Ibrox has failed to address in the previous month is their striker situation,

having watched as Sam Lammers failed to make an impression since the summer before departing on loan. They may still find an unexpected solution,

however. According to Ryan Rowe of The Scottish Sun,

Rangers could recruit Dwight Gayle, who has been released by Stoke City and is now a free agent.

Those at Ibrox may have to fend off Celtic’s interest in acquiring the former Premier League striker,

but the deal could wind up making a surprising difference. With the window being closed,

Gayle may be Clement’s lone hope of finding a solution to his forward troubles for the rest of the Scottish Premiership season.

Gayle has previously demonstrated that he is more than capable of scoring goals. At 34 years old,
