Erinc Bilican reports that Ridvan Yilmaz is demanding a huge salary in order to depart from Rangers and sign with Galatasaray before

to the end of the January transfer window.

A deal is unlikely to happen because the Light Blues demand €5 million for his services before the deadline of Thursday, February 1st,

according to a Turkish journalist who posted on the Markaj YouTube channel. The left-back reportedly wants a big salary.

Although there has been much conjecture over Yilmaz’s future throughout the January transfer window, it now seems likely that

Galatasaray will decide to use its current left-sided defenders rather than sign a new one this month.

Fingers crossed

While Yilmaz has been inconsistent throughout his time at Ibrox, Rangers cannot afford to lose one of their only left-back options so

late in the transfer window with barely any time to find a suitable replacement.

Borna Barisic’s contract is up at the end of the season and if the Croatian and Yilmaz both left Ibrox within six months of each other,

Philippe Clement would have a massive job on his hands to replace the pair and challenge for the Premiership title.

Yilmaz’s desire to travel to Turkey during the January transfer window has never been quite apparent, but it makes sense that he

would have demanded a significant wage increase to leave Rangers, where he is currently the Light Blues’ starting first-choice defender.

In the last seconds of the January window, Galatasaray shouldn’t bet a lot of money on this deal, but even if they did, it doesn’t seem

possible that this deal would close with so little time remaining.

In other Rangers news, this month’s Gers have turned down loan offers for one star from Serie A and Bundesliga teams.
