Rangers finally Agreed to make a world Record signing to bring super striker on deadline day

Rangers may have endured a deadline day blunder at Ibrox.

Glasgow Rangers appear unlikely to sign another centre-forward on deadline day,

with Philippe Clement and his transfer staff opting to sit still rather than stir things up at Ibrox.

Oscar Cortes is apparently on his way to the Rangers,

and he could be the lone addition to the roster on the final day of the winter window.

The need for another striker had been a hot topic throughout the previous month,

with Lawrence Shankland being the name on everyone’s lips.

According to the latest Daily Record update,

the chances of the Hearts forward leaving Tynecastle before the deadline this evening are’minuscule’ at best.

With only 18 months left on his current contract, this was an ideal opportunity for the Light Blues to strike,

but Philippe Clement seems uninterested in bringing him to Glasgow.

Regardless of interest, the club should have pursued this move,

especially given his goal-scoring record since returning to Scotland in the summer of 2022.

It could become a deadline day blunder in the coming months.

Dessers’ performance has improved since returning from the winter break,

compared to the beginning of the season.

The Nigerian has scored in all three competitive matches Rangers have played,

resulting in three victories, but Clement cannot rely on the 29-year-old to challenge Celtic for the Premiership crown.

Dessers isn’t clinical enough in front of the goal. This season in the top tier,

he has wasted 12 huge chances, the most of any player in the club, and he frequently needs a couple of chances before scoring.

Shankland, on the other hand, has been in outstanding shape since the beginning of the 2022/23 season.

Not only has he scored more goals than Dessers (47 vs 22), but he has also taken more shots per game (3.5 vs 2.8) this season, as well as completed more successful dribbles per game (0.8 vs 0.4), demonstrating that he could have been a solid upgrade on the former Feyenoord forward.

Shankland might have provided the Ibrox side with more firepower,

giving them a slightly higher chance of winning the top flight for the first time since the 2020/21 season.

It appears that the club will have to go through the remaining few months of 2023/24 with only Dessers and Fabio Silva as their primary centre-forward alternatives.

Silva possesses a great deal of talent, but he has yet to fully demonstrate it in the early stages of his career.

Shankland has already scored 19 goals this season and could likely break the 28-goal mark he set during his first spell at the Gorgie club.

Could this be a move the Gers may regret not making in the coming months? Only time will tell for Clement and his team.
