Former Rangers defender completes Deadline Day move to Championship side
Danny Wilson, a former defender for the Rangers, has completed his transfer deadline day move to Queen’s Park, a Championship team, in Glasgow.
The 32-year-old, who played for the Colorado Rapids of Major League Soccer twice, was released by the team earlier this month and
joins the Spiders on an 18-month contract. He came up through the Ibrox youth ranks. Having played for Hearts as well, he sent in his
second stint with the Gers back in 2018. This is his first trip back to Scotland.
Wilson said, “I am delighted to be here and delighted to be part of a club which is progressive,” in an interview with Queen’s Park TV. I
am excited to perform in Scotland once more as it has been a long time since my last visit.
The Scotland international, who has been capped five times, ended his first stint with Rangers in 2010 when he made a high-profile
move to Liverpool. Before relocating to Tynecastle in 2013, he played on loan for Bristol City and Blackpool during his three years with
the Reds. Between 2015 and 2018, he won the Scottish Championship and the Scottish Challenge Cup while playing for Rangers for the second time.
“Danny has all the experience we have been looking for and he also has a great pedigree in the game,” stated Callum Davidson, head
coach of Queen’s Park. It’s a bit of a coup to have him sign for him because, in addition to being a great player, he will greatly aid this
club in developing its young defenders. Danny gave these boys a great foundation in the game on the field, and as a result, some of
them will have lengthy careers in it. It’s wonderful to have him on the team.
