Defender signing could see Rangers knock-on for immediate Jefte deal

Rangers interest in Jefte wasn’t even reported until it was announced that the club had reached an agreement with the player and his parent club

Before APOEL decided to pull the plug,

it appeared as though Gers manager Philippe Clement had secured the left-back that would enable us to cash in on Ridvan Yilmaz.

Since then, though, there has been another development that may allow Rangers to bring Jefte to Ibrox during this transfer season.

In a decision that may have repercussions for Rangers, left-sided defender Cipriano moved to Europe after teammate Jefte.

The pieces are in place for this one, but clubs don’t have much time left in the transfer window to bring in reinforcements.

Rangers and Jefte have reached an agreement; t

herefore, to terminate the loan agreement,

all that would be required is to settle on a sum with APOEL.

This would therefore allow Nils Koppen greater leeway in terms of releasing Ridvan Yilmaz.

We still have more than a week left in the Turkish transfer window,

so if Jefte was at Ibrox already, we would have the upper hand.

Being in this situation is advantageous because there isn’t a pressing need for a left-back, but regardless of any verbal agreement,

it would be wise to bring in the 20-year-old right away before he draws more notice and his price increases.

Although calling is worthwhile,

we shouldn’t let it derail our efforts to send in a striker if there’s any chance of doing so before 11:30 p.m.

In any case, Rangers supporters should find the final hours to be highly engaging, Jefte or not.
