Although Rangers manager Philippe Clement is somewhat happy with his January transfer activity thus far, he will still want to bring

in at least two more players before the transfer market ends on Thursday at 11.30 p.m.

Early on, the Ibrox team signed Portuguese striker Fabio Silva on a loan from Premier League team Wolves, and the player has

adapted to his new surroundings. Midfielder Mohamed Diomande, who is initially on loan from FC Nordsjaelland with a buyout

obligation of approximately £4.5 million in the summer, trailed him through the door. The Ivorian came in Scotland earlier this week

after being granted a work permit.

Clement and Nils Koppen, the new head of football recruitment for the Gers, are still working on other targets, which include a left-

back, a wide player, and a striker. Oscar Cortes, a Colombian winger for RC Lens in France, and Brazilian full-back Jefte of

Fluminense are still being finalized by the recruitment staff.

Currently on loan at APOEL Nicosia, defenseman Jefte is able to depart the Cypriot club early after to an agreement reached last week

between the parties. The 20-year-old, it has now been stated, has vanished from sight and hasn’t communicated with his loan club in

FIVE DAYS.

After traveling to Glasgow this afternoon, attacker Cortes is getting closer to completing his transfer to Rangers. Since moving from his

childhood club, Millonarios, to the Ligue 1 team in the summer, he has only mustered four substitute appearances. After a medical, he

will likely sign a contract that will see him through the summer, after which the Glasgow giants will have the option to purchase him,

but the exact cost is still unknown. Cruzeiro of Brazil has been given permission by Rangers to talk with central midfielder Jose

Cifuentes. Only in the summer did the Ecuadorian international sign a four-year contract with Glasgow FC, having previously played

for Los Angeles FC under Michael Beale. Thus far, he has fallen short of expectations, and last week it became apparent

that Turkish Super Lig side Rizespor had agreed a deal on an initial loan move, with a £2million option to buy the player in the

summer. But Cifuentes wasn’t keen on a move to Turkey.

An offer for first-choice goalkeeper Jack Butland from Premier League side Nottingham Forest has also been booted out, with Rangers

issuing a strict hands-off warning after confirming he is not for sale. Welsh forward Rabbi Matondo has been linked with a move to

German strugglers Mainz, but it’s believed the player wants to stay and fight for his place.

Although Brendan Rodgers’ request for “genuine quality” to be added during the January transfer window seems to have gone

unanswered thus far, the Celtic manager will be hoping for a last-minute rush of transfers before Thursday’s 11.30pm deadline.

Over the past few months, the Northern Irishman hasn’t held back when voicing the team’s desire to bring in players with more

experience as opposed to project acquisitions. At the beginning of the 2023–24 season, the Hoops invested almost £20 million on

TEN new players, but only Paulo Bernardo, a Benfica loanee, and Honduran winger Luis Palma have had any kind of significant

impact.

Supporters generally agree that Ange Postecoglou’s Treble-winning team from the previous season was not strengthened by the

Scottish champions, and with just over 24 hours left in the transfer window, Nicolas Kuhn is the sole new addition this month.

After multiple disappointing transfer windows managed by head of recruitment Mark Lawwell, supporters of Celtic appear to have lost

faith in the club’s transfer policy. The German wide player signed a £2.8 million agreement to join from Austrian Bundesliga side

Rapid Vienna.

Adam Idah of Norwich City is one player that is anticipated to join Kuhn at Parkhead. According to reports, the 22-year-old has

accepted to a loan agreement with the EFL Championship team. He will have a medical in London today before moving up north.

Talks between the Republic of Ireland international and the Scottish champions began on Tuesday night. The player is under contract

at Carrow Road until 2028. This season, he has eight goals for both club and country, and Verona of Italy has also been keeping an eye

on the front man.

Idah’s preferred option, it is thought, is to join Celtic, and the two sides have finally come to an agreement. Brendan Rodgers is poised

to sign the player as his second January addition. He won’t have a buyout option added, but he will provide Kyogo Furuhashi, the

standout player, more offensive competition. Sydney van Hooijdonk, the son of legendary Hoops player Pierre, is not expected to

travel to Glasgow in the meantime. In order to replace Idah, Norwich is awaiting the completion of a deal for the out-of-favor Bologna

forward. The Dutchman will go to the UK to finish his medical exams before finalizing a loan deal that includes a buyout option in the

summer.

Lecce of Serie A is interested in Swedish defender Gustaf Lagerbielke, so there may yet be a few departures. Due to Cameron Carter-

Vickers’ most recent injury, Celtic has stalled a move thus far. The Italian team has notified the Celts that they want a decision on the

23-year-old TODAY or they will back out of the agreement if they don’t hear back. The center back has stated unequivocally that he

wants to move from Glasgow to play in the Italian top division, fulfilling a childhood desire.

One of the clubs interested in the Scotland international is Cardiff City, who play in the EFL Championship. David Turnbull may also

be on the move. Turnbull has made 16 appearances in the league before his contract expires at the end of the current campaign.
