Glasgow Rangers are among the several clubs interested in Queen’s Park prospect Callan McKenna,

but a trade appears improbable, according to The Scottish Sun.

The newspaper stated via its live blog [31 January, 1:01pm] that the homegrown shot-stopper will pick between three Premier League clubs,

with Manchester United dominating the fight for his services.

The sale of McKenna is expected to fetch at least £350,000 for Queen’s Park,

with additional add-ons such as first-team advancement and international caps potentially pushing the price to well over £1 million.

Celtic, Rangers, Brighton, Southampton, and Burnley have all kept tabs on the 17-year-old,

while Manchester City and Arsenal are also intrigued.

Missing out.

The Gers already have plenty of goalkeeping alternatives at Ibrox,

with 25-year-old Robby McCrorie and 23-year-old Kieran Wright failing to gain a look-in under Philippe Clement.

McKenna is one of Britain’s most sought-after young goalkeepers,

and signing him would be a significant coup for any European club.

However, it is difficult to compete with clubs like Manchester United in terms of attracting young players.

The bright lights of Old Trafford will often dazzling a youthful phenomenon like McKenna,

which is why a move to Ibrox appears improbable at this time.

It will still be a great regret at Ibrox that they were able to win over a Scotland U19 international,

who was granted his maiden cap  by Billy Stark at the age of 16.

But a potential fee of over £1million is a difficult choice to make for a young player anyway.
