Out of favour Rangers star reacts to Ibrox exit links and talks of a late January move Glasgow

Rabbi Matondo has struggled for first team football this season,

prompting talk of a potential departure.

Philippe Clement has had a pretty successful first transfer window as Rangers manager.

The Belgian has made his imprint on the club this month,

signing striker Fabio Silva on loan from Wolves and midfielder Mohamed Diomande from FC Nordsjaelland for a rumored

sum of roughly £4.5 million.

The Gers are looking to add more talent to their roster in the last days of the window.

Winger Oscar Cortes is reported to be just a medical away from completing his loan move from RC Lens,

while Fluminense left back Jefte,

who is now on loan at APOEL in Cyprus, could yet join Ibrox.

Throughout this month,

the focus has been on bolstering the Rangers team and only Sam Lammers (loan) and Steven Davis (retirement) have

departed the Light Blues roster this month as Clement’s side try to recover the Scottish Premiership championship.

Rabbi Matondo is one player that has received a lot of attention lately.

The winger joined the Gers from German side Schalke at the start of the season,

following loan spells with Stoke City and Cercle Brugge.

The 11-time Welsh international has struggled to make an impact since arriving to Glasgow,

making just 31 Premiership games in his first 18 months,

the great majority of which came from the bench.

Matondo has struggled this season, starting only four league games and coming off the bench in the remaining eight.

The 23-year-old’s lack of first-team participation has sparked speculation about a return to the Bundesliga,

where he is still coveted by relegation-threatened Mainz.

However, Football Scotland believes that Matondo is determined to make a name for himself at Ibrox,

and that the Welshman is eager to stay and battle for his position.

A recent injury to Abdallah Sima may improve his first-team exposure in the coming weeks.

The Senegalese international was injured while training for the Africa Cup of Nation

and is anticipated to be out for a long time, according to Clement.
